What we collect
Night Sky Index has no user accounts and asks for no personal information. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, approximate location, device type). Analytics data is collected via cookies and is not used to identify you personally.
Affiliate links
When you click a booking link, you are redirected to our partner Stay22 and then to a booking platform (such as Booking.com or Expedia). From that point their privacy policies apply. The redirect includes no personal data from us, only the destination you clicked and an identifier telling the partner the click came from this site.
Embedded booking map
Spot pages and eclipse city pages embed an interactive map of nearby stays, served by Stay22 in a frame. Loading that frame lets Stay22 see your IP address and set its own cookies, exactly as visiting their site would, and their privacy policy governs it. We pass them only the name of the place you are viewing and a label identifying the page, never anything about you.
Stay22 attribution script
Every page loads a small script from Stay22 that credits them for bookings you make after visiting us, including bookings you complete days later. It runs on all pages, not only those with a map, and lets Stay22 see your IP address and set its own cookies, governed by their privacy policy. We send it nothing about you. Blocking third-party scripts or cookies in your browser disables it, and the site works exactly the same without it.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard technical server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) for security and operations.
Your rights
You can browse with cookies disabled or with an ad/tracker blocker; the site works fine without analytics. For any privacy request, contact hello@nightskyindex.com.
